About Karen McLaughlin

I've loved working with words my whole life, from writing stories about my pet hamster as a kid and majoring in a foreign language in college, to designing training experiences as a corporate talent development professional and writing a newsletter about my midlife adventures.

With a unique ability to make complex topics easy to understand and a passion for moving hearts and minds with words, I transitioned from the world of corporate HR to helping entrepreneurs, writers, and change-makers clarify their message and craft lasting stories--through coaching, ghostwriting, and story shaping.

Writing serial fiction was a stretch goal for me, as I'm typically a non-fiction girl. But it was an exhilarating experience. Writing a 20,000-word novella chapter by chapter and publishing it to an audience taught me a lot about storytelling, perseverance, and time management. Editing it taught me a lot about my linguistic crutches, my strengths, and my weaknesses. All of it made me a better writer.

I bleed orange and blue (Go UF Gators), collect dachshunds like some women collect purses, enjoy exploring Florida's natural wonders, and believe we should leave this world a little better than we found it.
